Does my hospitalisation insurance cover expenses incurred abroad?

Even while temporarily staying abroad, you could be hospitalised. Read here about the coverage you can depend on receiving and what you should consider when travelling abroad.

Multi-day hospitalisation abroad

A multi-day hospitalisation abroad is covered by Helan's hospitalisation insurance policies. First, the mandatory insurance intervenes to reimburse costs covered by statutory health insurance. The amount remaining after this will be reimbursed by your hospitalisation insurance.

  • Hospitalia: maximum reimbursement of up to €200 per day
  • Hospitalia Medium and Plus: maximum reimbursement of up to €360 per day

Please note: If a limitation was imposed due to a pre-existing condition, that limitation will also apply to any admission abroad.

Day admission abroad

The cost of a day admission while in a foreign country is not reimbursed by Helan's hospitalisation insurance.
