Orthodontics for children and teenagers
Every child deserves a beautiful smile. That’s why we offer this additional reimbursement for children’s orthodontics, on top of the statutory reimbursement.

Helan-benefit: up to €1,050
Members of Helan Health Insurance are reimbursed up to 1,050 euros per person for orthodontics. This reimbursement applies from the placement of the orthodontic device or braces and covers 60% of all co-payments, materials, and certain supplements until the age of 22.

Ask your orthodontist for a proof for the reimbursement of the Helan orthodontics benefit.
This is a form that the RIZIV provides to your dentist. Does your doctor not have this form? Then print this application form and have it filled out by your orthodontist.
Send the completed form to Helan.
Submit the completed form via My Helan, the My Helan app, or a Helan mailbox.
We will transfer the amount to your bank account.
- You are up to date with your health insurance contribution.
- The treatment was started after January 1, 2021.
- The treatment must not be interrupted by the patient.
- This reimbursement applies to one treatment course per person.
- This benefit is only valid when the treatment is carried out in Belgium.
- There is no reimbursement for costs or supplements where the billing is in violation of Belgian regulations.
Statutory reimbursement for early orthodontic treatment
The reimbursement consists of a fixed amount. The first half of the reimbursement is received at the start of the treatment, and the other half after the treatment.
Send us the certificate of treatment provided by the orthodontist.
Stick a white adhesive stamp on the certificate and:
- Drop it off in a Helan mailbox in your area.
- Or mail it to Helan Independent Health Insurance, Boomsesteenweg 5 in 2610 Wilrijk.
We will transfer the reimbursement to your account.
- The start of the treatment was certified before the 9th birthday.
- Note: For treatments started before 1/7/2022, a medical agreement (attachment 60/60bis) is required.
Statutory reimbursement for standard orthodontic treatment
The reimbursement consists of an additional fixed amount for equipment and per regular orthodontic treatment. You will receive the reimbursement after 6 fixed costs for regular orthodontic treatment sessions and at the earliest during the 6th calendar month of the treatment.
Send us the certificate of treatment provided by the orthodontist.
Stick a white adhesive stamp on the certificate and:
- Drop it off in a Helan mailbox in your area.
- Or mail it to Helan Independent Health Insurance, Boomsesteenweg 5 in 2610 Wilrijk.
We will transfer the amount to your bank account.
- The start of the treatment is certified before the 15th birthday.
- The treatment must start no later than two years after approval.
- The reimbursement is available up to and including the age of 21.
- Note: For treatments started before 1/7/2022, a medical agreement (attachment 60/60bis) is required.
