Non-urgent transport is only available for medical reasons. If you are less mobile and need transport to go to the hairdresser or visit a family member in the hospital, you cannot use non-urgent medical transport. There are alternatives, however:
- The Minder Mobielen Centrales
The Minder Mobielen Centrales work with volunteer drivers who can transport you in their own car. The service is available in more than two hundred Flemish municipalities. You can explore the options at mindermobielencentrale.be and request your journey at least 48 hours in advance. At the end of the trip, you pay a mileage allowance based on the number of kilometres driven, plus any parking costs.
- A taxi
Some municipalities provide taxi vouchers for residents with reduced mobility. Check with your local council to see whether taxi vouchers are available and under which conditions. The level of financial support varies from one municipality to another. You can find more information on the website meermobiel.be.
