How much does a cleaner cost?

A cleaner can be a huge help around the house, but what does a cleaner actually cost when you pay with service vouchers? In this article, you’ll find a clear overview of the costs for a cleaner. That way, you’ll know exactly what to expect.

Which factors influence the price?

The cost of a cleaner depends on several factors. The frequency of visits and the number of hours are especially important. The more often your cleaner comes, or the longer they stay, the higher the total cost. With Helan, you pay simply and transparently with service vouchers for the hours worked.

How much does a cleaner cost with service vouchers?

You can easily pay for Helan Household Help with service vouchers. One working hour equals one service voucher. You can order up to 500 vouchers per calendar year.

  • In the Flemish Region, you pay €10 for the first 400 vouchers. From the 401st voucher onwards, the price is €11.
  • In the Brussels-Capital Region, you pay €11.40 for the first 300 vouchers and €14 for the next 200.

In addition to the service vouchers, you also pay an administrative customer contribution per hour worked. In the Flemish Region, this is €1.90 per hour. In the Brussels-Capital Region, this is €0.30 per hour. This contribution ensures that Helan Household Help can continue to safeguard the wellbeing of its household helpers as a social enterprise.

In short: you pay for your service vouchers + your customer contribution per hour.

Example calculation for a 4-hour cleaning session:

  • Flemish Region: if 4 hours are worked, you pay: €10 (service voucher) + €1.90 (administrative contribution) x 4 hours = €47.60.
  • Brussels-Capital Region: if 4 hours are worked, you pay: €10.20 (service voucher) + €0.30 (administrative contribution) x 4 hours = €42.

Are you a customer of Helan Health Insurance? Then you receive a €55 discount per year on your customer contribution, which is automatically deducted from your invoice.

There is no longer any tax benefit for service vouchers purchased from 2025 onwards.

Additional costs to take into account

Service vouchers cover most of the cost, but there are a few other things to keep in mind:

  1. Cleaning materials: you are responsible for providing your own cleaning products and equipment, such as mops, cloths and a window squeegee.
  2. Illness or absence: your cleaner will not be replaced unless Helan is able to arrange this.
  3. Rising service voucher prices: over the years, the price of service vouchers has increased several times.
