Home care for a sick child
Has your child suddenly fallen ill and do you need to work? Through Helan, a professional childminder will be arranged within 48 hours at an affordable rate.
10 days of childcare per year at €3 per hour
You can make use of a maximum of 10 childcare days per year, per child in your family, from Monday to Saturday between 7am and 7pm. You only pay €3 per hour for this professional childcare service.
You live in East Flanders, West Flanders or Antwerp.
- Request home childcare via T. 09 264 18 48 between 7am and 10pm.
- A staff member from i-Mens will assist you further.
- Once the childcare has been completed, you will receive an invoice.
You live in Flemish Brabant, Limburg or Brussels.
- Request home childcare via T. 02 778 97 00 between 7am and 10pm.
- A staff member from Manpower will assist you further.
- Once the childcare has been completed, you will receive an invoice.
- Your child is between 3 months and 14 years old and is registered as a dependent of a parent affiliated with Helan Health Insurance. Your child must therefore also be affiliated with Helan.
- Your health insurance contributions must be paid up to and including the month of the home childcare, otherwise no childminder can be arranged.
- You live in Belgium.
- You have a medical certificate in which your GP confirms that childcare is necessary, and you hand this to the childminder.
- The childcare service can be used for a maximum of 3 consecutive days, with a minimum of 5 hours and a maximum of 9 hours per day.
Please note: during peak illness periods, it may not always be possible to arrange home childcare in time.

Frequently asked questions
You can cancel free of charge until 5pm on the day before the childminder is due to arrive. Otherwise, an additional administrative fee of €50 (previously €35) may be charged on top of the invoice.
You are allowed to work from home while the childminder is there. If you are unwell yourself and unable to go to work, the childminder can still come to look after your child.
A medical certificate in which the doctor confirms that childcare is necessary is mandatory. Without this certificate, the full cost will be charged.
