Statutory reimbursement from the age of 50
The statutory health insurance only provides reimbursement for removable prostheses, for both the upper jaw, lower jaw, or both together. The reimbursement amount depends on several factors, such as whether you are entitled to the increased reimbursement, or whether you are following a dental care pathway, etc. It is best to ask your dentist for advice.
Send your original certificate to Helan.
Stick an adhesive stamp on your certificate and:
- Drop it in a Helan mailbox near you.
- Or send it by post to Helan Health Insurance Fund, Boomsesteenweg 5, 2610 Wilrijk.
We will transfer the amount to your bank account.
Renewal period.
After seven years, you can receive reimbursement again for a new dental prosthesis. In some cases, this can be sooner, for example in the event of a significant anatomical change due to trauma. For this, please consult your dentist.
- You must be 50 years old or older. The age requirement does not apply in certain conditions or specific situations.
- A fixed dental prosthesis or a “dental bridge” is not reimbursed.
- From the age of 70 onwards, you can receive a one-time reimbursement for the placement of two oral implants and the associated click system to keep the lower denture in place.
Statutory reimbursement for young people
The statutory health insurance only provides reimbursement for removable prostheses, for both the upper jaw, lower jaw, or both together.
Before placement, you must submit an application form to Helan.
- Your dentist gives you an application form. You submit the completed form to Helan.
- We forward this form to the Technical Dental Council (TTR) of the NIHDI and inform you of the decision.
After placement, you must apply for reimbursement.
Provide Helan with the following documents:
- the certificate of provided care
- the Annex 57 form, completed by the dentist
- the approval from the TTR

Renewal period.
After seven years, you can receive reimbursement again for a new dental prosthesis. In some cases, this can be sooner, for example due to a child’s growth.
- You are younger than 18 years old.
- The reimbursement is limited to a number of specific conditions.
- Reimbursement is only possible after approval by the Technical Dental Council (TTR) of the NIHDI.
- The prosthesis is reimbursed at most once per year and per jaw.
Dentalia dental insurance: 50% or 80% reimbursed
If you visited the dentist during the previous year, Dentalia Up reimburses up to 80% of the actual amount paid, taking into account your annual limit. If not, you can count on a reimbursement of up to 50% of the actual amount paid.
Ask your dentist to complete the reimbursement form.
Download the most recent reimbursement form and have it completed by your dentist.
Submit your reimbursement request to Helan.
Send us your reimbursement request and attach the necessary supporting documents or invoices.

Please note! A certificate of provided care (paper doctor’s note) may not be submitted digitally. We need the original document, as you also receive reimbursement from the statutory health insurance for this.
We will transfer the amount to your bank account.
- You have been a member of the Dentalia Plus or Up insurance for at least 12 months.
- The reimbursements may not exceed the annual limit.
