Once you are back in Belgium, inform your health insurance fund about the medical care you received abroad.
Reimbursement for medical care abroad
For the reimbursement of urgent medical care abroad, you can rely on our Emergency Care Abroad service. Upon your return to Belgium, you can request reimbursement. Helan will process the reimbursement as soon as we receive your reimbursement form and the necessary supporting documents.
Good to know
As a My Helan user, you will receive a notification when a reimbursement has been processed. Activate notifications via SMS or e-mail on My Helan.
Allowance in case of illness
Are you incapable of work due to illness or an accident? As an employee, unemployed person or self-employed worker, you may be entitled to a replacement income. Report your incapacity for work in good time.
Inform Helan immediately if, upon your return to Belgium, you are unable to resume work. This allows us to process your incapacity for work in time and ensures you are entitled to an allowance.
