Are you temporarily unable to care for a loved one? You can count on a reimbursement for a short stay for someone with care needs.
€15 reimbursed per day
The reimbursement for a short stay amounts to €15 per day, with a maximum of 28 days per year.
A short stay is a temporary admission to a short-stay care centre. It offers a practical solution when family members or others who usually care for someone with care needs are temporarily unable to do so.

On the Social Map, you’ll find an overview of short-stay care centres where you can arrange a short stay.
Submit your invoice to Helan.
Send us the invoice for the short stay:
- Digitally: via the Helan app or through My Helan. No sticker is needed – we identify your document through your login.
- By post to Helan Health Insurance, Boomsesteenweg 5, 2610 Wilrijk, including a white sticker. Or drop it in a Helan mailbox near you.
We’ll transfer the amount to your bank account.
- You are up to date with your health insurance contributions.
- The short stay must take place in a government-recognised short-stay care facility. You can find an overview via the Social Map.
