After your admission to a psychiatric ward
The period after a hospital admission is often just as important as the admission itself. You can rely on our extensive range of services and benefits for a fast and sustainable recovery after hospitalisation.
Reimbursement of psychiatric costs
How much you are reimbursed by your hospital insurance for your hospital stay in a psychiatric ward depends on your Hospitalia formula.
- Do you have Hospitalia Smart?
Then you are entitled to reimbursement for a maximum of 20 days per calendar year. In a multi-bed room you benefit from optimal reimbursements. In a single room you receive reimbursement of physician fee supplements up to a maximum of 1 times the statutory rate (=100%) and up to 100 euros per admission day for room supplements. - Do you have Hospitalia Care?
Then you are entitled to reimbursement for a maximum of 50 days per calendar year. In a single room with overnight stay you receive reimbursement of physician fee supplements up to 2 times the statutory rate (200%) and reimbursement of up to 125 euros per admission day for room supplements. - Do you have Hospitalia Plus?
Then you are entitled to reimbursement for a maximum of 50 days per calendar year. In a single room with overnight stay you receive reimbursement of physician fee supplements up to 3 times the statutory rate (300%) and reimbursement of up to 125 euros per admission day for room supplements.
Note:
- If your insurance limits reimbursements due to a pre-existing condition and your admission is related to it, your insurance may not be able to reimburse the supplements for a single room.
- Certain reasons for admission mean that a hospital stay is not covered. For example, if an admission is caused by intoxication or drugs. Consult the general terms and conditions for full details.
Reimbursement for pre- and post-care in psychiatry
In the period before and after a hospital admission, two types of services are eligible for reimbursement from Hospitalia Smart, Hospitalia Care or Hospitalia Plus:
- (tele)consultations with a psychologist or psychiatrist for which there is reimbursement from the statutory health insurance
- Day and night admissions in a psychiatric ward/service
How do I apply for my reimbursement?
If you are affiliated with a hospitalisation insurance from Helan, follow the steps below to request your reimbursement.
Are you affiliated with another hospitalisation insurance? Please contact your broker to find out how the reimbursement process works.
When you receive invoices, you first pay the amount yourself. You will be reimbursed later.
Download a recent reimbursement form. Fill it in, sign it, and attach the admission invoice and any other supporting documents.
Attach a white adhesive stamp to documents that you do not submit digitally so that we can identify them immediately.
- Submit your documents digitally via the Mijn Helan App or via Mijn Helan Web.
- Or drop them in a Helan mailbox in your area.
- Or send them by post to Helan Independent Health Insurance Fund, Boomsesteenweg 5, 2610 Wilrijk.
Please note! A paper medical certificate (certificate of provided care) may not be submitted digitally. We need the original for reimbursement from the statutory health insurance.
