Hospital invoice
Do you have a specific question about the reimbursement of your hospital invoice? Below you will find our answers to the most frequently asked questions.
Frequently asked questions and answers
You will receive the hospital invoice no earlier than 8 weeks after your admission.
Please note!
Only submit your reimbursement request for hospital costs once you have received the hospital invoice. Without the hospital invoice, your hospitalisation insurance cannot process any reimbursement, including copayments and supplements for pre- and post-hospitalisation care.
A hospital invoice shows all your costs in detail, divided into a maximum of 8 categories. You will always find the amount you need to pay yourself, as well as the amount covered by your health insurance fund or reimbursed through your hospitalisation insurance.
- Accommodation costs
If you are admitted to a hospital, you pay for the use of the room, meals, and nursing care. Did you choose a private room? Then you will see a supplement on your hospital invoice.
- Fixed charges
For each hospital stay, the hospital may charge four fixed costs, even if you did not use the services. These include fixed charges for clinical biology, medical imaging, and medication.
- Pharmacy
These are costs for medicines and medical devices you used. Implants for cosmetic procedures are also listed here on your invoice.
- Medical costs
These are the costs for services provided by doctors and healthcare professionals. If you choose a private room, doctors and caregivers may charge a supplement determined by the hospital.
- Other supplies
This may include blood, breast milk, disinfectant baths, etc.
- Patient transport
This refers to transport provided by the hospital, whether urgent or non-urgent, and only transport arranged by the hospital. Costs from services such as the fire department are not included.
- Miscellaneous costs
These costs are not related to the medical care you received. They include the use of items such as the telephone, television, or refrigerator. Hospitals must communicate these rates through a price list.
- VAT on cosmetic procedures
You must pay 21% VAT on cosmetic procedures such as breast augmentation or a facelift.
