Podiatric or orthopaedic insoles can help with knee, hip, neck or back problems. That's why you can expect to be reimbursed for visits to a podiatrist, ortopaedic technician or orthopaedic specialist.
Statutory reimbursement orthopaedic technician or orthopaedist
Starting from the date the orthotic insoles were delivered, the statutory health insurance provides a yearly reimbursement for children up to 18 years old and every two years for adults for the purchase of podiatric insoles that meet the conditions below.
The reimbursement amount depends on the type of insole.
Take the prescription from the specialist doctor to the orthopaedic technician or orthopaedist.
The orthopaedic technician or orthopaedist will provide you with a delivery certificate.
Send us the prescription and the delivery certificate.
Send us the prescription and the signed Appendix 13 from the bandagist or orthopaedist by post to Helan Health Insurance Fund, Boomsesteenweg 5, 2610 Wilrijk, including a white adhesive stamp. Or drop it in a Helan mailbox near you.
Please note! You may not send these documents to us digitally. We need the original documents for reimbursement through the statutory health insurance.
We will transfer the reimbursement to your bank account;
- The podiatric or orthotic insoles meet a number of quality criteria and are made from materials prescribed by the NIHDI.
- The podiatric or orthotic insoles are provided by a bandagist or orthopaedist, not by a podiatrist.
Extra Helan-benefit: up to 50 euros reimbursed
Did you purchase podiatric insoles without a prescription and therefore without reimbursement from the statutory health insurance? In that case, Helan provides a reimbursement of 25 euros per podiatric insole per year (50 euros per pair).

- The insoles are custom-made and delivered by an NIHDI-recognised podiatrist.
- The statutory health insurance does not provide reimbursement.
