How much does a dental implant cost?
Would you like to get back to life with a bright, confident smile? If so, a dental implant could be a great solution. Unfortunately, dental implants are not cheap. The good news: the Dentalia Up Dental insurance reimburses up to €2,200 towards the cost of dental implants every 2 years!
What is an implant and a dental prosthesis?
A dental implant is a type of artificial root, made of titanium. The implant is surgically placed into the jawbone. After four to six months, the dental implant has fully fused with the bone. From that moment on, it can serve as a support for a prosthesis: a crown, a bridge or a removable dental prosthesis. Any tooth in your mouth can be replaced with a dental implant.
What is a crown and a bridge?
In some cases, no implant is used and a crown or bridge is placed on top of existing teeth instead. A hollow artificial tooth or several artificial teeth are fitted over the natural teeth. To do this, the existing teeth need to be reshaped.
What is a post crown?
A post crown consists of a small post with a dental crown attached to it. The post is placed into the root canal. Dentists use a post crown when the tooth root is still healthy enough, but the tooth itself is broken or damaged. The difference compared to a dental implant is that your natural tooth root is preserved.
When is an implant the best solution?
Sometimes weak teeth run in the family. Even people who take good care of their teeth and go for a yearly dental check-up can experience crumbling or damaged teeth. If your teeth can no longer be restored, your dentist may suggest placing implants and dental prostheses. If you have vulnerable teeth, you can insure yourself against the high costs of implants and prostheses. Read more about the Dentalia Up Dental insurance.
What is the cost of a dental implant and crown?
The cost of a dental implant can rise to €2,000 or more. For a crown, you can expect to pay around €750.
Is a dental implant reimbursed?
Dental implants and prostheses are not cheap. The statutory health insurance provides limited reimbursement in certain situations. Would you like to be well protected against the cost of implants? Then you can take out Dentalia Up, the Dental insurance via Helan. This insurance reimburses the cost of prostheses and implants up to €2,200 every 2 years.
One more thing: join in time so your costs are covered when you need a dental implant. A waiting period of 12 months applies for prostheses and implants. This is the period after joining that you need to complete before you can receive reimbursements.
